چکیده
Abstract. Most global atmospheric mercury models use offline and reanalyzed meteorological fields, which has the advantages of higher accuracy lower computational cost compared to online models. However, these products need past and/or near-real-time observational data cannot predict future. Here, we an component with tropospheric stratospheric chemistry (CAM6-Chem) state-of-the-art climate model CESM2, adding new species simulating cycling. Our results show that newly developed is able simulate observed spatial distribution total gaseous (TGM) in both polluted non-polluted regions high correlation coefficients eastern Asia (r=0.67) North America (r=0.57). The calculated lifetime TGM against deposition 5.3 months reproduces interhemispheric gradient a peak value at northern mid-latitudes. HgII wet over (r=0.80) captures magnitude maximum Florida Peninsula. simulated fluxes present pattern low northwest southeast. line seasonal variations mid-latitudes as well Southern Hemisphere, shows amplitude. We further go into factors affect find Hg0 dry dry/wet depositions contribute it.

Modeling the past atmospheric deposition of mercury using natural archives.
Historical records of mercury (Hg) accumulation in lake sediments and peat bogs are often used to estimate human impacts on the biogeochemical cycling of mercury. On the basis of studies of lake sediments, modern atmospheric mercury deposition rates are estimated to have increased by a factor of 3-5 compared to background values: i.e., from about 3-3.5 microg Hg m(-2) yr(-1) to 10-20 microg Hg ...

Measurements at the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve support a range of research activities aimed at improving the understanding of the atmospheric fate and transport of mercury. Routine monitoring was enhanced by two intensive measurement periods conducted at the site in summer 2010 and spring 2011. Detailed meteorological data are required to properly represent the weather condit...

[1] The NASA Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO) has developed a global non‐hydrostatic cloud‐ system resolving capability within the NASA Goddard Earth Observing System global atmospheric model version 5 (GEOS‐5). Using a non‐hydrostatic finite‐volume dynamical core coupled with advances in the moist physics and convective parameterization the model has been used to perform cloud‐sy...
